Sidewinder at The Ruby Lounge, Manchester 8th July, 2007

Sidewinder is a 4-piece rock band from North/West Yorkshire. They take their influences from AC/DC, Guns 'n' Roses, Van Halen, Motley Crue, Thin Lizzy, Iron Maiden and Metallica.

Brothers Nick Robinson on Lead Vocals and Lead/Rhythm Guitar and Chris Robinson on Drums, Backing and Some Lead Vocals.  Lee Kitson playing Lead/Rhythm Guitar and Neil Fitchew on Bass Guitar and Backing Vocals collectively make up Sidewinder.

Grasping the audience with their musical talent playing their first song “Soul Lies”, they slid into their 2nd song “Fast Lane” with a great catchy chorus. Going strong with their 3rd “Roll Tonight” it was great to see young lads loving classic rock so much. Sidewinder had a taste of Iron Maiden and gravelly vox from Nick - ACDC influences shining through. “Good Loving” showed off their exceedingly good musicianship especially from Mr Lee Kitson. The band’s favourite song – “Fight”, again great style of harmonizing guitars. Still highlighting their influences, “Never Get Along” and “Pull The Trigger” with it’s wicked drum solo from Chris (it was like watching Bam Margera but with Tommy Lee drumming!). Wrapping up the set and an entertaining show with “Hold On Tight” and my personal favourite “Love To Hate You”. Of course, it was a shame to see the end of the performance.

In a nutshell, it will be good to see these guys develop in their own style, building on their sound foundations. With this line up only less than a year old, they are now on the brink of potentially coming into their own.
