Q

Please introduce your band, the current  line-up and  what each of you do.

A

The name of our band is 'Fire In The Empire' and the line-up is...
Bill Boardman- Vocals
Terry Casey - Rhythm Guitar
Mick McCullagh - Lead Guitar
Dale Scribbins - Bass Guitar
Chris Hall - Drums

Q

How would you describe the band’s sound?

A

Tight stonkin' power groove funk rap metal.

Q

How do you approach your song writing and what is your lyrical theme/content?

A

We usually start with a guitar riff then the whole band inputs into the writing process. Alternatively we write around a lyrical idea or content...
The lyrical content is somewhat political and about the general bad things that a so called "democracy" entail.

Q

Who gets involved with writing of lyrics and melody? Is it down to specific individuals or a collaborative process?

A

It is definitely a collaborative process.

Q

How often do you practice and have you any shows lined up?

A

We practice 3 to 4 times a week for between 3 and 6 hour slots. Our up and coming shows can be viewed on our myspace.

Q

What has been your best gig so far, and why is it so memorable?

A

Our best gig to date was at The Ship Inn for the 'Get In The Ring Battle of the Bands' on the 13th of February 2010. This was memorable
because the band played well under the pressure of a competition and there was a great crowd turn out and reaction.

Q

What was the last song you listened to, either on the radio, your mp3 player, at a gig...?

A

'Safe Home' by 'Anthrax'.

Q

Is there anything about the metal scene today that you would like to change?

A

It would be a great thing if the popularity of the genre increased so everyone could see just how awesome metal is. \m/

Q

What do you think of the Preston/North West  metal scene right now?

A

It's great that there are plenty of good metal bands getting their music out there and it keeps bands on their toes due to the competition. It would be a dull place without it.

Q

What do you consider are the benefits of initiatives like Rock On Preston and Get In The Ring?

A

The benefits are endless! The fact that all the bands can get together and support each other is very beneficial in so many ways. It's like having one big family!

Q

What’s next for the band?

A

To play as many gigs as possible this year and hopefully organise a tour by later this year. We live to play live but we also are going to record more of our material so everyone and anyone can experience what we have to offer
