Q

Please introduce your band, the current  line-up and  what each of you do.

A

Hey,
Incidium are a Stockport based 4-piece heavy metal band. We're here to play the music WE love to the fans who wanna hear it (and the tossers stood there that don't!!!!)
Been together 5 years - seriously for 1.5 years - current line up for about 3.5 months!

Members:
Gabe Mitri - Rhythm Guitar & Vocals
Rik Hayward - Lead Guitar & Backing Vocals
Joe Ratcliffe - Bass Guitar, Backing Vocals & Entertainment
Chris Topham - Drums & Pizza Supply

Q

How would you describe the band’s sound?

A

High Energy, Fast, Brutal, Heavy Thrash with a nice sprinkling of harmonised guitar parts here and there.

Q

How do you approach your song writing and what is your lyrical theme/content?

A

Rick is pretty fucked up so he writes most of the lyrical stuff! haha!
Musically we all contribute!
Sometimes a song can start with just 1 riff idea and gets jammed from there, other times 1 of us may have written most of it already and then brings it to the other guys.

Q

Who gets involved with writing of lyrics and melody? Is it down to specific individuals or a collaborative process?

A

Similar to above really. Rick does most of the lyrics but input from everyone. Melody/Harmony within songs is normally Gabe with the idea and Joe uses his musical theoretic genius to fine tune it!

Q

How often do you practice and have you any shows lined up?

A

Minimum twice a week! We got quite a few gigs lined up at the minute, maybe too many to list here....Check us out at www.myspace.com..incidiumuk for full gig listing.

Q

What has been your best gig so far, and why is it so memorable?

A

The Final of the Whittles BOTB competition.....COS WE FUCKING WON!! Its was awesome, the crowd was really energetic and we really feed off that!

Q

What was the last song you listened to, either on the radio, your mp3 player, at a gig...?

A

Hmmmm, well Rick probably just listened to something by In Flames, as he is buzzing off their older stuff right now, we all have very varied tastes...Machine Head, Metallica...Meat Loaf.....Florence & the Machine (Sorry Rick!) HAHA!

Q

Is there anything about the metal scene today that you would like to change?

A

Yes! The run of the mill Generic bands that are just repeating (in a mediocre way) what other bands already did. I hate bands that do nothing but 5 minutes of Breakdown over and over...introduce something new! Write a riff!!! Also, it gets harder and harder to get people to come to gigs! I think typically "metalheads" don't tend to have loadsa money so they struggle to be able to get to lots of gigs.

Q

What do you think of the Preston/North West  metal scene right now?

A

Well, we're not from Preston, but the few times we've played there, there have been some real good bands, as far as further afield, there are some real cool bands around at the minute. Thrashier music definitely seems to be growing in popularity!

Q

What do you consider are the benefits of initiatives like Rock On Preston and Get In The Ring?

A

Helps bands get out of their home turf, get some recognition and gain more fans. The events are really well promoted, which is a bit of a rarity nowadays, some promoters are useless at PROMOTING, but all the Preston stuff I've seen has real good posters, emails, events on facebook etc etc!

Q

What’s next for the band?

A

Loads more gigs, followed by a short break near the end of April until beginning of July as our drummer is becoming a daddy...awwwwwww....then new merch available, new E.P. available and more gigs!
