Q

Please introduce your band, the current  line-up and  what each of you do.

A

Hellooo! We are Visitor hailing from Manchester. We have four members in our line up and they are Tim Marland behind the Drums and vocals, Jim Foster on guitars and vocals, Gaz "Heinous" Hayden on Guitar and backing vocals and Mitch on the bass.

Q

How would you describe the band’s sound?

A

There are a lot of different elements to our sound. We all have different influences between us so we try and incorporate as much into Visitor as possible. But if I were to describe it, i would say Heavy Melodic Thrash Metal!!

Q

How do you approach your song writing and what is your lyrical theme/content?

A

Usually when writing a new song we jam out some riffs in the practice space and try to get a skeletal structure to the song. Then we go over and over it to see what parts can change or be modified. Once we are happy with the music we look at vocal patterns for each of the vocalists and throw them into the mix and once we have completed that we write the lyrics around it. Usually Jim writes his parts and Tim writes his parts. We like to think outside the box when it comes to writing the songs, concepts are always a big part of our writing. Alien conspiracy is a major theme within our writing (hence the name). A lot of post apocalyptic themes are thrown about but we write about a lot of different things depending on what is grinding our gears at that moment in time.

Q

Who gets involved with writing of lyrics and melody? Is it down to specific individuals or a collaborative process?

A

Think i mentioned it in the last question that Jim and Tim write all the lyrics but ideas get thrown about between the four of us so that we are all happy with the end result.

Q

How often do you practice and have you any shows lined up?

A

We practice up to once or twice a week. We all have jobs so we have to work around the time to get us all in at once but sometimes maybe two of the members will go in and lay down some riff ideas for the future. We have a couple of shows lined up right now in and around the Manchester area our next one is a long way off but it is March 27th at Jabez Clegg. We are selling tickets for this show so if you want to come along drop us a line at our myspace.

Q

What has been your best gig so far, and why is it so memorable?

A

I would probably say Manchester Academy 4 last March. It was a fun night because all the bands we played with were friends of ours and we had a great time on and off stage but it was the crowd and turnout which made the night most of all.

Q

What was the last song you listened to, either on the radio, your mp3 player, at a gig...?

A

The night before we played The Ship Inn on Saturday I know that Gaz and Jim were listening to Soilwork - Natural Born Chaos, not sure about Tim and Mitch, they were probably listening to either Judas Priest or the sound of Tim's engine overheating due to the speed he drove at.

Q

Is there anything about the metal scene today that you would like to change?

A

Not really sure on that one. More chicks!!!!!!!

Q

What do you think of the Preston/North West  metal scene right now?

A

It's cool man. Reminds us a lot of Manchester plus we have met a lot of different bands in Preston and got along really well with them so we hope to keep alliances formed with the bands we have played with.

Q

What do you consider are the benefits of initiatives like Rock On Preston and Get In The Ring?

A

More exposure to new people is the main one. We just want to get our names out there and make sure people have a good time when they watch us.

Q

What’s next for the band?

A

We will be releasing our new CD 'The Need To Believe' soon and get gigging in order to promote that plus play more shows, write more tunes and hopefully get signed and do exactly the same thing and keep on doing it.

Q

For those wishing to check out more, what is your myspace link?

A
