The Ship, Preston

The More I See + Storm Corporation + Fire In The Empire

Fire In The Empire get the evening off to a groovy start with some down-tuned political ranting and some interesting face paint but are ultimately  hampered by the fact that people don’t want Rage Against The Machine in a pub in Preston. Still they engage and get the crowd thoroughly warmed up for main support act Storm Corporation, who have the place full to the doors. Escaping the mundane they place some truly powerful female fronted metal, more in common with the likes of Doro than with the more generic Lacuna-Coil-type sound. With a solid set they prove themselves to be exceptionally talented and a great pre-cursor to main act The More I See.

With an album already in the top 5 of HMV’s pre-orders and currently enjoying a highly successful UK tour in support of their new album ‘Tread the Darker Path’ The More I See command the stage of The Ship as well as any band at the height of their career. Singer Peter Ellis’ soaring vocals convey a tenacity and presence many front-men would kill to have, whilst the band provide some insane riffs, face melting solos and a ground splitting power. With a refreshing mix between the likes of the unstoppable groove of ‘The Unholy Feast’ and pure thrash attack of ‘Veiled By Greed’ they ensure that at no point in their storming set are the audience ever given respite from their devastating metal attack.

Overall, an amazing night with a truly brilliant band demolishing The Ship, the audience and the surrounding area.
